Story Telling and Writing

The nursery rhyme The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly was the prompt for a simple writing task with the year 2s at St Francis Birkirkara.  The children had to select and write the names of the animals that were swallowed by the old lady in the rhyme.  The aim of the activity was mainly for the children to learn how to select the right information for publishing.

Why Dogs are Better than Cats

There is a lot of discussion about whether dogs are better than cats.

The people who agree with this idea say that dogs can tell if you are sick.  For example, once there was a dog whose owner was ill.  The dog started barking to alert the owner’s family.

Furthermore, dogs can help blind people.  For example, dogs help blind humans cross busy roads.

However, there are also strong arguments against this point of view.  The people who disagree with this idea say that cats can chase mice whereas dogs can’t.  Moreover, cats are more independent than dogs, which means that they are able to live on their own.

After looking at the different points of view and the evidence for them, I think that dogs are cleverer than cats, as they aid police chase criminals.

Why Cats are Better than Dogs

There is a lot of discussion about whether cats are better than dogs.

The people who agree with this idea say that cats are better than dogs because cats can live on their own.  For example, once a man went on a cruise, and as the man could not take the cat with him, he left him behind.  The cat did not make any fuss.

Furthermore, you don’t need to take your cat for a walk.  This is convenient if you don’t have the time to walk your cat.

However, there are also strong arguments against this point of view.  The people who disagree with this idea say that dogs are better than cats because dogs can guard your home.  For example, once a thief broke into a house, but the dog stopped him.

Moreover, dogs have a better sense of smell than cats.  For example, once a dog smelt fire and managed to save its owner.

After looking at the different points of view and the evidence for them, I think that cats are still better than dogs because cats are easier to take care of.
